A china town walk
Ron, Donna and I walked down the hill to catch a bus. We rode into town and met up with a small group, Australians and Germans, one expat of 18months (Donna) and two Americans. The tour guide was an entergetic Singaporian of Chinese desent. We went to Thian Hock Kheng Temple and the tour guide explained that Buddists, Taoist, Ancestral worship and the Philosphy of Confucian are all worshiped here. One stop was a Traditional chinese Medicine store, very interesting. I bought some tea which would cure whatever ailed you and tasted great. Ron and Donna have convinced me that I will never get it through customs so guess we will drink it here. On to a Chinatown wet market-most of the food is imported in Singapore. The most interesting part was the fish market, frogs, eels, etc. The floor was wet, hence the name "wet market". After the three hour walking tour we were very hungry so went for dim sum with our new Australian friends from Perth to a place recommended by Wina (the tour guide). On the way home in the bus Donna pointed out sights. The landscaping and archtecture are amazing.
