On to Viet Nam

Left Singapore for chaotic crazy Viet Nam.  We left Singapore in a taxi to the airport at 5:30 am and arrived here around noon on JetStar, low cost airline.  In a crazy taxi ride from the airport the driver honked constantly, the roads are full of motor cycles and bikes carrying families, groceries, construction materials and anything and everything you can imagine.  Hanoi is alive with people!  The sidewalks are full of people selling food, clothing, repairing shoes, impromptu restaurants every few  feet eating appetizing meals, tending children, playing games and living life!

Our hotel is the Sofitel Metropole, historical and supremely refined, with a colonial facade, two restaurants and several bars.  We will be here for a couple of nights.  It is in the old part of town.  Will have to post photos as words don't do it justice.

I will post more pictures but these capture some of the street scenes. The last photo was the restaurant where we ate tonight.  Good Vietnamese food and draft beer, less than $10 for two.
