March 25 along Mekong

Sorry to those of you that have emailed.  I can receive email but not send.  No cell service either.  Skype and Viber work for text messages.  Kristin, loved the pictures of the dogs playing with Julia.  We've been gone so long they may demand to live with you....

We went in the sampan to the wet market.  Not very much resemblance to our farmers market, huge baskets of snails in three sizes, and a lady with a mortar and pestle grinding them into a paste!  Eels, every fish from salt or fresh water and the most amazing-rats, alive or skinned (ready to eat??).  Next to a huge basket of rats was a basket of little oblong things.  I asked the lady what they were and she put them on the rat with a grin indicating they were rat testicles.  Oh my!!!  They were not selling dog-but the Vietnamese do eat it...

Then we had tea in the home where "The Lovers" lived.  That movie is going to the top of the Netflicks when we get home.  In the sampan and down the River to a brick factory.  While making bricks, using rice hulls for fuel the men raised rosters for cock fighting.  That part of the outing I could have done without.  I will add some photos from the morning tours.
